Each design must adhere to the current competition theme - ‘Design your first consumer product’.

The design team's total score is based on the ingenuity of the design, research and development process as presented, the value and potential impact of the design, and the ability to communicate or demonstrate the features and value of the design and design approach.

The Challenge will be judged on 2 levels.

Level 1 - A panel of qualified judges will select top 50 entries for the best Consumer product based on the online submissions. The teams will be invited to the final event to be conducted in the month of December 2017 in Dubai, UAE.

The selected participants’ Design submissions will be judged based on a scoring ratio of 80% for design assessment and 20% for Presentation.

Level 2 – This will be conducted for the top 50 participants from each of the categories conducted at Dubai, UAE on 8th December 2017. The participants will assemble their design, showcase their functional prototype, and compete in a 10 minute verbal presentation with additional 5 minutes reserved for Q & A.

The top 2 teams from each category will be selected based on this level. The team with the best innovative project will also be selected based on Level 2.

  • Innovation and Creativity 30%
  • Efficiency and Feasibility 30%
  • Communication and Presentation 20%

In the event of a tie, the student/team whose submission received the highest combined score for Innovation and Feasibility as determined by the qualified judges will be deemed the Finalist.

ATLAB STEM Academy reserves the right to select fewer than ten (10) Finalists, if, in its sole discretion, it does not receive a sufficient number of eligible and qualified Submissions.

The finalists from Level 1 will be announced on website by the 1st of December 2017.

Kindly note, that the Level 1 Challenge winners will not be provided travel support to compete at the final round – Level 2 of the competition in Dubai, UAE.
